FCP and Magic Bullet Looks 2.0
I haven’t seen my sisters Annie and Jamie in half a year. Annie’s been living with her friend Danielle (pictured, out of focus) in Liverpool and Jamie’s been schooling in Sweden. I’m currently visiting them in the UK thanks to my wonderful parents.

Cody Allen, Live at the Dakota (CMW 2012)
Here’s a video I shot and cut for Cody Allen (http://www.myspace.com/codyoallen). I was pretty happy to get the opportunity to experiment with creative coverage and editing as it was a 1 camera shoot during a live set.

Catskill, New York
Joel Richardson (http://joelrichardson.com/) and Germinio Pio Politi (http://www.gpoliti.com/) took me to New York this weekend to shoot them throwing up some paste ups for WS2MS (http://www.occupywithart.com/blog/2012/3/16/wall-street-to-main-street-launches-march-17-saturday.html). We’re following Joel for a web series and doc on Toronto-based graffiti and street artists that I am co-directing and have been shooting (info here: https://vimeo.com/betweenthelinesdoc). Damn, that was too many links.
The last picture is of some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. They put the 3 of us up for the night that we stayed in Catskill. Thank you Pat and John!
Layover in Hong Kong (Kowloon), Heading Home
I’ve been back for a couple days. Canada looks a lot different to me now.
Tiny Toones
Yesterday we were interviewing Shhort, the general manager at Tiny Toones (http://www.tinytoones.org/). He had a tough life in the States before being deported to Cambodia where he’s committed himself to giving poor, (very) at risk children hope and skills for the future.
The community of Borey Santipheap II
We shot at a school in this community the other day. The residents used to live in an inner city slum before the government bulldozed it and and forced them to relocate an hour outside of town (away from where their jobs were if they had them) and into these pre fabricated compartments. This isn’t an isolated incident. This development is pretty new. We’ve also been shooting in a nearby ghettoized community of only families with HIV/AIDS but we’re starting to learn that this is quite the complex situation due to mixed feelings from the locals. Some are happy in their new communities although the proper support is not being provided by the government. It’s delegated to the NGOs who are not getting enough funding to get people what they need.
12 Hour Decades Themed Cambodian House Party Hop
This is exactly what I saw.
Angtoulap Temple
We just spent 4 days with Buddhist monk Sareth Brak who heads Raise and Support the Poor (http://rspngo.org/wp/). This is the temple he teaches at next to the school. He is doing incredible things in this region, where his is the only school in operation and also harbours a few orphans who have been given a second chance thanks to him. The kids are hard here, makes our look so… soft. Guess that comes at a price of a higher infant mortality rate.
Tuk Tuk
Shot quite a bit in a tuk tuk today, our main mode of transportation. Got stopped by the police for filming near an embassy, our translator talked our way out of wiping the card. Our driver’s pretty solid too.
